Trainers with Maxi Dresses

The trend has been circling round for a while now, and has made its mark in the fashion word, not your normal style but lots of celebrities have taken on the style and you guys in the street. That style is wearing trainers (nike) with maxi dresses, mixing smart casual with casual.

For me it has taken a while to get round. At first thinking of the concept of mixing trainers with a maxi dress did through my mind! However after seeing how different people have adapted there own style according to the trend it has made me warm to the idea much more. It is an unusual style cause at first sight they do not look as if they would suit wearing with a maxi dress, however if you get the colour of the trainers right with the maxi dress you are in for a lot of compliments, cause it should look like a great outfit. If you get the colour wrong your outfit will stand out like a sore thumb and you will be looking rubbish.... there is not a nice way to say it.

The trick to wearing this style is to wear a darker colour dress to the shade of your trainers, or you can do it the other way round and have a light dress but darker shoes. Although I do think it works better when you have lighter trainers against the dark, as it draws more attention to you. The result of wearing trainers with your maxi dresses or jumpsuits, is even though the maxi dress is add height to you, the trainers are also doing that. They also allow you to dress down the maxi dress so you do not looked too dressed up.
The trainers also fit in well to events taking place in London this summer such as the Olympics and is a perfect outfit to be turning up in to an event, that big in London. It helps add the sporting american chick look to you.
It does not however have to be nikes that you have to wear. You can go for converse, vans, high tops (adidas) and there are many more. For example if you were wearing a patterned maxi dress then you would probably choose a pair of converse with the colour scheme that tied in with the colour of the maxi dress. The converse would make the foot more stream line, however it would also add a casual look. Perfect.

However contrasting the colour of shoes remember is aloud and can work well, and with Nicola McLean, Kristen Stewart and my own eyes seeing Laura Marling showing how it is done, so can you!
