What is the big deal of designer?

This is a question which does bother many people and is a question which bothers me as well.

Designer has always obviously been made to a better standard than high street. But why is it that high street is a fraction of the price. One of the reasons you may be thinking is getting children of a young age sowing their hearts out to get a piece of clothing in which some of us may just wear a couple of times and chuck it in their wardrobe, till half way through the year when they may whip it out again . But no that is not a main reason, the main reason is why is designer so expensive, when apparently they can make it for £40, but then they send it for £500+ ...it just does not make sense, people are surely just buying for the label some of the times.

There is no doubt about it yes, yes they do shape the fashion world, with the catwalks being studied by many high street shops, but that does not mean that they can sell some of there cloths for a much greater price than high street. Or does it ?

High street clothing, even though copied by some of the stuff on the catwalk is sold for a much cheaper price... and it does look close to identical sometimes. What i think is that you might as well buy it from high street because you could find a equally or better outfit to what you would get for in designer.
Below are some examples:
